On the wheel of life, this is both a time to reap the harvest of all we have accomplished for the year and also a time to reflect on whether we actually planted the seeds we intended and nurtured them to fruition.
If you started your writing project and finished — this is a time to celebrate!!
If you started and haven’t finished, it’s not too late.
Even if you haven’t started, it’s not too late.
You have until year’s end.
How many words, pages do you envision your completed project? Divide by the 58 days before the end of the year.
An average book is between 250 pages = 4 pages everyday until the end of the year to 320 pages = 5 1/2 pages a day to the end of the year.
What about you? Finished? Started, but not finished yet? Haven’t started?
almost done. easy to let it go this time of year. a page a day should do it for me. we’ll see.
Howdy. Yep. Thanks to you.
Struggling with revisions and pesky plot holes. Hoping going through your site helps me find a more efficient way to deal with this part of the process and make sure i’m not messing up my story with my edits.
Thanks for the encouragement to get back to work!
I just started writing a few days ago. My goal is to complete a first draft of a novel by the end of the year, and I really appreciate your timely encouragement, Martha. Thank you.
It’s an awesome thought, to know that it’s not too late to end 2008 (and begin 2009) with a completed first draft in our hands.
Keep writing, everyone. 🙂

Wow! You are all encouragement to me.
I keep promising that I’ll devote myself to my story as soon as I get this month’s eZine out, meet the papers deadline required for an attorney group I speak to in Hawaii early next year, wash all the dishes and make the bed.
I know, I know….
I”m not following my own advice.
You inspire me.
Up tomorrow at 4AM to write.
I’ll let you know how I do……
I’m shooting for HALF. Half of my nonfiction project is due 2/1/10. Wouldn’t it be cool to have it done early?! 🙂
You’ve inspired me! I was thinking I wanted to be done by mid-January, but how much better to type the end in time for New Year’s. I’m not quite half way through with a cozy mystery. Time to put on a burst of speed and get this baby DONE!

Yikes! Actually slept in rather than awaking early. Go figure….
But I refuse to be left behind. Today I’ll get in a couple of hours on my WIP.
Thanks, Peg. You inspire me!!
Great advice!
My ms has been written but not edited. I have another contract on the way and have started on that inspirational project. 😀
Good morning, dear Martha. 😀 We had a lovely sunrise this morn.
Hugs, JJ
I have abandoned my fiction project now that I spend so much time blogging and editing my site. Now that I see the schedule that I would need to keep to get done, I guess I’m out of excuses. Thanks for the reality check!
Did it! Took one half hour to talk myself into getting out of bed — 5AM – 5:30AM, but I did it. Felt like I was the only one awake in the world.
Wrote for two hours.
Day one for me.
Thanks to each of you for your inspiration…..
Still going strong.
How about you???
Martha – Jilly Nines and I thank you for the comments. . . You’re right in that it’s not too late. . . My personal goal is to finish the second rewrite of “The half-life. . .” and write at least 1 blog posting that gets at least 25 comments! Before the end of the year. Best of luck with all of your goals.
