Step Two Turn Your Goals into Reality

it’s time to begin building on the foundation you created in STEP ONE. Start by including your external goal to your Universal Story Planner. This year, forget resolutions and intentions. Instead simply make a goal.

Start Small

Begin with an easy short-term goal. A goal you can complete in a few months. Or, if you have what you believe is a yearlong goal, break that more complex goal into manageable parts. Choose one of those parts for your first Universal Story Planner goal. Each time you successfully complete one part, you’re then able to continue to the next part without overwhelming yourself.

Passionate Goal

What is the most important aspect of the goal you choose? Choose a goal you’re passionate about completing with a firm understanding about why this goal. Pick a goal that excites you. Scares you. Sends a rush of energy of your spine. Make sure your goal is:

  • Clearly defined
  • Measureable – in other words, a specific, concrete goal you’re able to break into steps to measure you progress
  • Realistic – choose a goal you’re able to accomplish by yourself
  • Doable — rather than give yourself the entire year to complete, choose a goal you’re able to accomplish in the next few months. We’ll include a timeline for your goal in STEP FOUR
