You finished the draft. That’s enormous. And now you’re staring at it wondering: is this actually a story? Does it hold together? Will anyone want to read it? PlotWriMo exists for this exact moment — to give you a clear, structured path from rough draft to story that grips.
★ ★ ★ ★ ★“After PlotWriMo, agents started requesting fulls. Enough said.”

Is PlotWriMo right for you?
This course is for you if:
- You have a completed or near-complete draft of a novel and you’re not sure what it needs.
- You’ve tried revising on your own but keep losing the thread — or the motivation.
- You want to understand structural revision at the level of the Universal Story arc, not just line edits.
- You want an agent’s perspective on what separates publishable manuscripts from the slush pile.
This course is NOT for you if:
- You’re still drafting — come back when you have words on the page to work with.
- You’re looking for one-on-one manuscript feedback from Martha or Jill directly.
- You want a line-editing or copyediting course — PlotWriMo works at the structural level.
- You need a casual, no-pressure approach — this course asks for commitment and sustained focus.
What writers are saying
“I rewrote my middle three times without understanding what was wrong. PlotWriMo gave me the language and the lens to finally see it. One revision later, a completely different book — and a better one.”
Maya D., Novelist“Jill’s notes on what agents actually look for in a submission read changed how I thought about my own manuscript. The structural holes I’d been papering over suddenly couldn’t be ignored — and fixing them made everything click.”
Carlos F., Writer“The monthly challenge format was what I needed. Knowing I had a clear goal for each week stopped me from spiraling into endless tweaks and pushed me to make real structural decisions.”

Martha Alderson
The Plot WhispererMartha Alderson’s Universal Story arc has helped writers around the world understand why their stories work — or don’t — at the deepest structural level. In PlotWriMo, she guides you through a full structural revision of your draft using the same four-quarter framework from the 27-Step Tutorial, applied specifically to the revision process.
Jill Corcoran
Former Literary AgentJill Corcoran spent years reading manuscripts and making decisions about what to represent. She knows the difference between a story with promise and a story that’s ready — and she knows how to get you from one to the other. Her agent’s eye on pacing, stakes, and narrative satisfaction is woven into every module of PlotWriMo.
One Month. Four Passes.
Assess the Big Picture
Before you can fix anything, you need to see what you actually have. Map your existing draft against Martha Alderson’s Universal Story arc. Identify which structural elements are working, which are missing, and where the energetic arc breaks down.
Structural Revision
Go deep on the four quarters of your story. Strengthen the beginning separation, fill the middle sag, intensify the dark middle crisis, and ensure your ending delivers the transformation readers have been earning alongside your protagonist.
Scene-Level Analysis
Move from macro to micro. Work through Martha Alderson’s Scene Tracker methodology to examine each scene for emotional purpose, conflict, and forward momentum. Cut what doesn’t serve. Strengthen what does.
Final Polish and Agent Readiness
Jill Corcoran walks you through what agents actually look for in a submission read — and how to know when your manuscript is truly ready. Leave with a polished draft and a clear, honest sense of next steps.
